Evelyn J. Martin, 82 of Heath passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Martin was born March 2, 1942 in Newark, Ohio to the late Fred A. and Ida F. (Sensibaugh) Hunkins.

Mrs. Martin was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Anyone that knew, talked to or even just crossed paths with Evelyn knew her family was her greatest treasure. She never shyed away from sharing stories about her family. She found a way to be at every football, soccer, volleyball, basketball game, dance recital, gymnastics meet, 4H hog and cow show that her kids or grandkids were participating in and dreamed of the days of seeing her great grandchildren doing the same. Her heart was consumed with love for her kids and grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of the Nashport United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Ryan (Stephanie) Martin of Heath, Lori McArtor of Nashport; sisters, Kay Nutter, Judy Hunkins, both of Newark, Alice (Leroy) Newsome of Nashport; grandchildren, Drake (Melodie) McArtor, Drew (Jessica) McArtor, Ashton (Tavien) Schwendeman; and great-grandchildren, Serena, Sutton, Leo and Walker.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frederick W. Martin.

Friends and family may call from 5p.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – FRAZEYSBURG, 110 Third Street, Frazeysburg, OH.

Funeral services will be 1p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Daft officiating.  Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
