A funeral service for Evelyn L. Dixon, 80 of Newark will be held Monday October 23, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes with Rev. William Rauch and Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Dixon died Friday October 20, 2006 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born June 25, 1926 in Newark to the late John E. & Nellie B. (Grimes) Varner. She is survived by her daughter, Marie A. Cole of Newark; son, Walter (Pat) Dixon of Texas; sister, Eileen Coakley of Newark; daughter-in-law, Roxie Dixon of Newark; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; special aide, Nicki and her pet Eyore.She is a lifetime member of St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was an active member. She is retired from Quality Cleaners. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, embroidering and gardening. In addition to her parents her husband, Cayrol W. Dixon, died in 1977; two son Bob Dixon, Jay Dixon, son-in-law, Elamer Cole, a brother, a sister, a grandson, a half-brother and two half-sisters preceded her in death. Calling hours will be observed Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. The family request memorials to the funeral home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
