DRESDEN – Evangeline "Vickie" Norris, 87, of Dresden, Ohio died Monday afternoon, November 14, 2011 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born November 4, 1924 in Trinway, Ohio she was the daughter of the late John Carl (Scoop) and Margaret Elizabeth (McMorris) Vickers and was a 1942 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. Mrs. Norris was retired from the Village of Dresden where she had been Income Tax Administrator for 12 years. Previously she had been secretary for Dr. D. K. Matthews for 15 years. She was an active member of the Dresden United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #399 Ladies Auxiliary and the CCL. She was a charter member of the Canal Quilters in Roscoe Village and she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Coshocton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Norris was a very avid Bridge player and played several times each week at both the Zanesville and Coshocton Seniors Citizens.
Surviving is a son and daughter in-law, Kenneth and Lois Norris of Dresden; a daughter and son in-law, Rita and Richard Parsons of Dresden; four grandchildren, Lori (Stu) Lee of Zanesville, Brenda (Donnie) Moran of Dresden, Brad (Becky) Parsons, of Granville and Karen Norris of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and nine great grandchildren, Brodie, Devin, Tristin, Wiley and Savanna Moran, Conner and Emma Lee, Abby and Aiden Parsons.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Norris whom she married February 9, 1946 and who died September 2, 1993.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Inboden and Rev. James Ross officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
