A funeral service for Esther D. Moorman, 86, of Newark will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Margaret A. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Moorman died Friday October 31, 2003 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born January 28, 1917 in Granville, Ohio to the late Ray and Esther (Murrell) Garrison.She is survived by a daughter Judy (Fred) Phillips of Newark; son, Wayne D. ?Gene? (Shirley) Moorman of Middleburg, Fla.; 8 grandchildren, Colin Moorman, Palatka, Fla., Allen (Teri) Moorman, Jacksonville, Fla., Karyn Simon, Jacksonville, Fla., Cathy Nasworthy, Middleburg Fla., Barry (Lisa) Phillips, Thornville, Terry Phillips, Newark, Sherry Tapia, Newark, Tyler (Mona) Phillips, Newark; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; three sisters-in-law, Charlene Garrison, Venice, Fla., Wilma Mathews, Newark, Mary Dell Green, Newark; several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Moorman, taught piano and organ lessons for over 40 years. She had been associated with Sundin?s and Martin?s Music in Newark and the George Nash Studio in Mt. Vernon. A member of Second Baptist Church, most of her life, she served as church organist and pianist for many years. A member of the Newark Eagles Auxiliary, and served as the pianist. She played the piano at the Goodwill Industries Wednesday services. She taught tatting at Zerger Hall.In addition to her parents, her husband, Wayne D. Moorman died March 29, 1972, two brothers Clarence R. Garrison and Charles W. Garrison are deceased.Calling hours will be observed Monday November 3, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
