FRAZEYSBURG ? Ervin Prentice ?Smity? Smith, 63, of Nashport, Ohio died at 9:42pm Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born May 21, 1942 in Beauty, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James and Sadie (Dalton) Smith and was a graduate of Warfield High School. He was a retired truck driver with the Kroger Company of Columbus, was employed part time in highway maintenance with the State Highway Department and was a former Sheriff Deputy in Perry County. Mr. Smith was a member of the Somerset Church of Christ and New Home Lodge #338, F. & A. M in Hanover, Ohio. He was a former member of Goldwing Riders Association and a former member of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving is his wife, Marilyn (Hindel-Lent) Smith, whom he married December 10, 1994; two sons, Jeffrey (Kathy) Smith of Stoutsville, Ohio and Kevin Smith of Destin, Florida; two daughters, Wendy (Dan) Jacko of Grove City, Ohio and Christi Lynn Smith of Somerset; one step-son, Richard (Mandy) Lent of Dresden, Ohio; three step-daughters, Melissa (Bryan) Reynolds of Frazeysburg, Ohio, Melanie Dickerson of Warsaw, Ohio and Misti Lent of Nashport; three brothers, James W. (Ethel) Smith of Pinson Fork, Kentucky, Arnold (Doris) Smith of Obetz, Ohio and Donald (Linda) Smith of Thornville, Ohio; five sisters, Florence (Franklin) Cains of Somerset, Ohio, Nell (Fred) Howell of Beauty, Kentucky, Geneva (Marlin) Faulkner of Chillicothe, Ohio, Sue (John) Judy of Beauty, Kentucky and Connie (Bob) Adams of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; four grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Okey, Clyde and Deming Smith. Calling hours will be 4 to 8pm Friday, August 19, 2005 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, Frazeysburg with Masonic Services being held at 8:00pm by New Home Lodge #338. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the funeral home with Minister Doug Oakes officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
