Ernest E. Yost, 89 of Newark died Friday morning, August 12, 2022 at Arlington Care Center. He was born August 23, 1932 in Alexandria, OH to the late Ernest and Ruth (Condit) Yost.

Mr. Yost was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School and worked in the Produce Department at Kroger. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Mr. Yost was a member of American Legion Post # 85; a union steward with Local 1037; a past president of Newark PTA council; and a member of Neal Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ethel (Nickels) Yost; sons, William (Cyndi) Yost and Jeffrey (Tammy) Yost, all of Newark; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Yost was preceded in death by four sisters, Martha, Flossie, Stella and Helen.

Friends and family may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark. A memorial service will take place at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Drew Watson and Lt. Kaitlyn Haddix officiating.
