Ernest P. "Bud" Spencer, 81, of Mansfield, formerly of Dresden, died at 2:05AM Wednesday June 22, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Ohio.
Mr. Spencer was born January 2, 1930 in Millstone, Kentucky, one of eleven children born to the late Joel and Nora (Trent) Spencer. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in Korea. Mr. Spencer was retired from the Newark Air Force Base, a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden and a former member of the Hanover American Legion Post.
Surviving are sons, Gregory A. (Mildred) Spencer of Brighton, MI, David W. (Lisa) Spencer of Colorado Springs, CO; step son, Blaine (Goldie) Korreckt of Columbus; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Marcie) Spencer of Mansfield, Clay Spencer of Mansfield, J.B. (Barbara) Spencer of Shelby; sisters, Ann (Kenny) Edenfield of Warren, Carlene (Buddy Wayne) Carty of Shelby; a brother in law, Letcher Short of KY and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret N. Spencer on May 14, 1997; a step son, James W. Jones; a brother, Creed Spencer; his twin sister, Edna Love, sisters, Lucille Hess, Mayrene Short and Marie Barnett.
Friends may call from 12PM until a 2PM funeral service on Tuesday June 28, 2011 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street, Pastor Andrew Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery.
