Erma Helen Hamby, 92, of Dresden, Ohio died Wednesday morning, October 16, 2013 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born October 4, 1921 in Dresden she was a daughter of the late Owen and Ameda (St. Clair) Symthe. She was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hamby was formerly employed by the Bush Woolen Mill of Dresden and Essex Wire Company of Zanesville.
Surviving is one daughter and son in-law, Nancy and Richard Ugie of Dresden; two grandchildren, Lesha (Rob) Barnhart of Dresden and Douglas (Judy) Ugie of Cooperdale, Ohio; three great grandchildren Kris Barnhart, Whitney Barnhart and Taylor Ugie; and her two great joys, her great great grandchildren, Destiney and Cyrus Barnhart. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Kenny and Patty Brown, Beverly Slaughter, Nora and Kenny Melton, Patty and Dale Prince, Julia Smythe, Teresa and Mike Dooley and Paul and Mary Dawson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Bud" Hamby whom she married April 12, 1941 and who died November 17, 1986; a brother, Gerald Smythe; three sisters, Louise Dawson, Doris Jones and Essie Brown and a niece, Carolyn Dawson
Calling hours will be 5 to 8pm Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
