Elsie Mae Bay Kanavel, 80, of Nashport, Ohio died Friday evening, February 3, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Karen Evans, in Lapel, Indiana.
Born October 20, 1931 in Frazeysburg, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Blanche (Melton) Woodruff. Mrs. Kanavel was a homemaker.
Surviving are three sons, David (Karen) Bay, Donald (Laura) Bay and Robert Bay, all of Nashport; six daughters, Karen (Michael) Evans of Lapel, Indiana, Donna Willis of Hebron, Ohio, Joyce (Jack) Potts of Mt. Perry, Ohio, Judy Brennan of Fultonham, Ohio, Betty Jane Bay of West Lafayette, Ohio and Kathleen Weaver of Nashport; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren and one on the way; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her dog, "Sadie".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kanavel; the father of her children, Donald D. Bay; three grandchildren and a brother, Charles Woodruff.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be at 3pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
