A funeral service for Elmer F. Jones, 92 of Newark will be 11:00 a.m. Friday August 3, 2007 at the Heath Church of Christ with Dave Mason officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Green Lawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with Ray Linn officiating. Elmer passed away Tuesday July 31, 2007 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born April 29, 1915 in Glouster to the late Herman and Ora Mae (Kasler) Jones. Elmer was a real estate broker for a number of years in Athens before being appointed by Gov. Jim Rhodes as Chief of Real Estate with the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources. He was a former Republican State Delegate to several National conventions. An active member and past deacon of the Heath Church of Christ, and a member of First Christian Church in Ft. Myers, FL. He was a past president of Wally Byam Caravan Club-Land of Lakes Unit. Elmer did extensive work in family genealogy and spent time making tiffany style stained glass items. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Kasler) Jones of Newark; a daughter, Diana Sue (Ron) Begg of Ft. Myers, FL.; grandchildren, Brenda (Todd) Buchy of Columbus, Leslie (Reed) Barker of Atlanta, Brian Begg of Perrysburg, Michael Jones of Atlanta; step sons, Lee Bridgewater of Columbus, Glen Bridgewater of North Carolina, Mark Bridgewater of Ft. Myers, FL., step-granddaughters, Tammi (Tim) Hildenbrand, Traci (George) Yoho, Trisha (Kyle) Ullman, all of Zanesville, 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Laura Heck Jones; a son, Thomas F. Jones; a brother, Eugene Jones; sisters Bernadine Murphy and Thelma Hambell. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday August 2, 2007 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
