A funeral service for Elizabeth M. Plants, 88 of Newark will be 2:00 p.m. Friday August 31 2007 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Bishop Paul Skaggs and Pastor Les Crossfield officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Mrs. Plants passed away Monday evening August 27, 2007 at Newark Health Care Centre. She was born March 19, 1919 in Pedro, Ohio to the late Hobert H. and Della (Conley) Salyer. Mrs. Plants worked as a nurse. She had the distinct honor of being a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann (Raymond) Garvin of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, William (Vicki) Rodgers of Newark; sisters, Freda Hunt, Grace Wilson, Ruth Mason, Nancy (Don) Clary, all of Newark; brothers, Carl (Polly) Salyer of Newark, Henry Salyer of California, Robert (Deana) Salyer of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Plants; 1 sister and four brothers. Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday August 31, 2007 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.
