A funeral service for Elizabeth A. ?Libby? Walker, 86 of Newark will be held Tuesday April 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes with Rev. Charles A. Rader officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Walker died Friday April 6, 2007 at her daughter?s home. She was born February 16, 1921 in Newark to the late Ulysses E. and Matilda A. (Drumm) Smith.Mrs. Walker was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Candlelighters, and UMW, Ruth Rachel Circle. She was a member of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority for over 50 years serving in many local and national offices. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and served as the Licking County Senior Hall of Fame nominee. She was a member of the Newark Lions Ladies Auxiliary, and LMH Twig# 11. She belonged to several bridge and euchre clubs. Mrs. Walker retired in 1983 as the Assistant Rental Manager at Southgate Corp. She was a 1939 graduate of Newark High School and had attended Bliss Business College.She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John B. Walker, whom she married March 1, 1943; daughter, Linda Walker (Charles) Hayes of Newark; son, John B. (Sheila) Walker, II of Whitehall; sisters, Jeanne Jones of Newark, Fran Phelan of Carroll, Elaine Smith of Newark; grandchildren, Amy (Skip) Blessard of Granville, Peggy (Barry) Wright of Granville, Wendy Johnson & James Carroll of Canal Winchester, Mary Beth Walker of Westerville, Joshua Alan Walker of Whitehall; great-grandchildren, Ryan Blessard, Kilee Blessard, Victoria Wright, Meghan Wright, Arielle Johnson, Zoe Ridenour, numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Lasko and a brother Gerald E. Smith.Calling hours will be observed Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Aging Program in care of the Caregiver Support Program, 745 East Main Street Newark, Ohio 43055.
