Obituary

Eleanor L. Longstreth, 88, of Dresden, Ohio died Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.
Born November 21, 1923 in Coshocton County, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Mildred (Smailes) Phillips and was a 1941 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. She was also a graduate of Meredeth Business College of Zanesville. She worked at the Bush Woolen Mill in Dresden, the Trinway Post Office and was a cook at Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement in 1992. Mrs. Longstreth was a member of the Trinway United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She lived her life for her beloved family and enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and "just being home".
Surviving is one son, P. J. (Darla) Longstreth of Dresden; two daughters, Linda (Mitch) Hatfield of Chandlersville, Ohio and Molly Kilpatrick of Frazeysburg; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Jenny) Longstreth, Julie (Chad) Moorehead, Cassie Crandell, Eric Robison, Lindsey Cochran, Tanner Kilpatrick, Josh Gallogly and Ashley Gallogly; four great grandchildren, Anna and Joey Moorehead, Ava Heigle and Sophia Longstreth; a special sister, Marilyn Martin of Frazeysburg and her children Tom, Mike and Greg Martin and their families; and her beloved cat, "Rosie".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Longstreth whom she married January 5, 1946 and who died April 19, 1992 and her brother in-law, Norman Martin.
A special thanks is given to her caregivers, Anita, Samantha, Anne, Vera and Linda. You are truly a blessing to our family.
Calling hours will be 2pm to 6pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Trinway United Methodist Church, Second Avenue, Trinway, Ohio with the Rev. Sharon Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinway United Methodist Church or to the Animal Shelter Society.
