Obituary

Elden H. Sauerbrey, 88, of Dresden, died at 4:25PM Friday August 30, 2002 at Appletree Homes in Dresden, where he had made his home recently. Mr. Sauerbrey was born June 7, 1914 in Cleveland, a son of the late, William H. and Maggie M. (Helwig) Sauerbrey. He was a graduate of Keene High School and was a retired carpenter and farmer. As a 4-H advisor, he worked with the Richvale 4-H Club and was founding advisor for the Comus 4-H Club. He had also managed the 4-H Camp Piedmont. A member of the Richvale Grange, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dresden. For several years he had been a school bus driver in the Jefferson School District, where his wife taught for many years. Surviving are Wilbur (Annis) Sauerbrey of Dresden, Phyllis (Ted) Putnam of Williamsburg, Vir., Martha (Tom) Snapp of Ft. Myers Beach, Fl., Carolyn Robison and friend Rick Kirkendall of Zanesville; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor M. (Wilbur) Sauerbrey, whom he married June 24, 1939, on June 3, 1987; a sister, Elvene Bickle and one nephew. Friends may call 3PM-6PM Monday September 2, 2002 at the Vensil&Orr Funeral Home in Dresden, where services will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday with Dr. John J. Arnold and Rev. C. Thomas Snapp officiating. Burial will follow the McGee Cemetery near Dresden. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
