Obituary

Edwin Dale Houck, 90 of Newark died Monday October 5, 2009 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Mr. Houck, a farmer, was born December 10, 1918 in Delaware County to the late Gordon and Lena Mae (Kerns) Houck. Mr. Houck had attended St. John?s Lutheran Church. Mr. Houck served in the Army during WWII. He had been employed by North American Rockwell. He enjoyed the many hours spent farming. He liked fishing in his farm ponds. He was a very capable carpenter. He was a fan of the Indiana Hoosier?s basketball team. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Arlene (Scoles) Houck, whom he married March 23, 1940; three daughters, Dalene (Albert) Outcalt of Ft. Myers, Florida, Yvonne (Jack) Pursell of Newark, Sue Nadolson of Butler, Ohio; son, Jan Dale (Deborah) Houck of Newark; sister, Ruth Hattle of Ocala, Florida; sister-in-law, Ginny Houck of Reynoldsburg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. A visitation will be observed Friday, October 9, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street.
