Obituary

Edward â??Edâ? Hugh Jones Sr. 87 of Dresden, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2010.

Mr. Jones was born September 22, 1922 in Newark, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur H. and Blanche Billman Jones. He & his brother John Jones owned and ran Jones Power Sales in Zanesville Ohio for many years. In his retirement, he worked many years at the Longaberger Company. He was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church and was a Lay Minister and loved preaching the Gospel of Christ. A member for over 50 years of Dresden Lodge #103 F. & A.M. and was a 32 degree Mason, a life member of Valley of Cambridge and was a member of the DAV and VFW. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in WWII as a member of the United States Army while serving in the South Pacific. For his service he was inducted into the Muskingum County War Veterans Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife; Virginia Hitchcock Jones, whom he married on December 14, 1943; a son Edward H. (Janice) Jones of Zanesville; a daughter Robyn Jones, of the home; a grandson Tye (Stephanie) Jones of Zanesville and two step-grandsons Robert and Rick Knowlden of Zanesville and five great grandchildren; his brother Robert Jones of Salsbury, North Carolina, a sister Blanch Gill of Philo and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: John, Arthur, and Franklin, Sisters Elizabeth Noel and Helen Garver and three infant brothers.

A Celebration of Edâ??s Christian Homegoing will be held on July 17, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at the Dresden United Methodist Church.
