FRAZEYSBURG ? Edward Joseph ?Joe? Swope, Sr., 72, of South Zanesville, Ohio died 10:38pm Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville. Born December 31, 1934 in Nashport, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hugh and Hazel (Reynolds) Swope and was a graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School. Mr. Swope was an Army veteran serving in the 8th Infantry Division; Company B. He retired in 1992 as a machinist at Rockwell International in Heath, Ohio and he was a member of the Zanesville Eagles. Surviving is his wife, Marsha A. (Kackley) Swope whom he married June 16, 1962; one son, Joe (Kendra) Swope, Jr. of Philo, Ohio; two daughters, Teresa Putnam of El Paso, Texas and Tracy (Mike) Nasser of Norwich, Ohio; one sister, Barbara (Richard) Roffey of Marne, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great granddaughters; his mother in-law, Dorothy Knackley of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews. Following his death, his first great grandson was born December 27, 2007. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Swope; three sisters, Donna June Swope, Kay Rakes and Betty Burkett; and one grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 6, 2008 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Longfellow officiating.
