Earl L. Hoffer, 76, of Adamsville, Ohio died Friday morning, November 16, 2018 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born December 3, 1941 in Zanesville he was a son of the late Christian and Garnet Lowry Hoffer and was a 1961 graduate of Adamsville High School. He was also a graduate of the Ohio State Barber School.  Earl was a well known barber for over 50 years and was co-owner of Bob & Earl's Barber Shop of Zanesville.  He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and was a member of the Church Council for many years.  Earl was also a member of the Adamsville Town Council and the Adamsville Progressive Council.  He was a very avid sports fan enjoying all sports.

Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Darlene (Bowden) Hoffer whom he married June 16, 1963; two daughters, Susie (Kevin) Schneider of Dresden and Stacey (Ron) Seitz of Coshocton; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Donnie) Ault, Mallory (Corey) Crutchfield, Jeffery (fiancée Melissa) Schneider, Anisha (Cory) Richesson, Dakota (Brooke Clapper) Seitz and Montana (Alexis Griffith) Seitz; eight great grandchildren, Dyllon and Jaylee Ault, Grace and Jackson Crutchfield, Camden Morrison, Klayton and Blakeleigh Schneider, Bentley Devoll and one on the way. Also surviving is one brother, Danny (Judy) Hoffer; five sisters, Wilma Rock, Doris Sowers, Linda (Terrell) Robinson, Sandy (Carl) Church and Diane (Roger) Kreis; a sister in-law, Delores (Ivan) Johnson; a brother in-law, Bob (Beverly) Bowden and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Krause and four brothers, John Mohler, George Mohler, William "Bid" Mohler and Robert "Bob" Hoffer.

Calling hours will be 3pm to 8pm Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. There will also be calling hours for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 7025 Adamsville-Otsego Road, Adamsville, Ohio with Pastor Mary Molnar and Pastor Diana Gugel officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Morrison House Hospice or to New Hope Lutheran Church.
