Earl R. Garver, 94, of Dresden, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2017 at his home.
Born July 12, 1922 in Dresden he was a son of the late Harry W. and Edna M. (Adolph) Garver and was a 1940 graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. He proudly served our country as a member of the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Garver retired in 1981 from the U. S. Postal Service where he was a rural mail carrier for 37 years. He was also a real estate broker and owned and operated Garver Realty of Dresden. Earl was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #399 of Dresden, the local and national Rural Letter Carriers Association and the local and national Realtors Association.
Surviving is one daughter and son in-law, Katrina and Randy Cunningham of Dresden; three grandchildren, Chad Cunningham of South Zanesville, Amy (Nick) Beach of Dresden and Travis (Christie) Cunningham of Dresden and four great grandchildren, Abby, Camryn, Katelyn and Carter Cunningham.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 66 years, Helen J. (Lutz) Garver whom he married December 3, 1949 and who died October 31, 2015 and two brothers, Francis M. Garver and Dayle L. Garver.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton, Ohio.
