Obituary

Dwain J. Merriam, 71, of Adamsville, died early Sunday morning, November 14, 2010 at Morrison House Hospice following a brief illness.

Mr. Merriam was born December 16, 1938 in Zanesville, a son of the late Norman Kenneth and Ruby Pearl (Nelson) Merriam. Since 1960, Mr. Merriam had operated Merriam Roofing Co., Inc. He was currently serving on the Adamsville Village Council, a position he held for over 45 years and had served previously as mayor of Adamsville. He was a member of Hubbard Lodge #220 F&AM in Adamsville and had coached baseball for 14 years in Adamsville leagues and was a member of the Adamsville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Hutchison) Merriam, whom he married July 17, 1959; two sons, Daniel D. (Becky) Merriam of Adamsville, Douglas J. ( Michelle) Merriam of Zanesville; a daughter, Kimberly S. Moyer of Zanesville; his grandchildren, Adrienne Merriam, Megan Merriam, Alie Merriam, Jessica Moyer, Logan Moyer, Madeleine Moyer and Cortland Knudson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Douglas Merriam on November 13, 2004; a son-in-law, Ronald Baker on June 5, 1991 and a brother Kenneth N. Merriam and an infant sister, Patty Merriam.

Friends may call 2-8PM Tuesday November 16, 2010 and one hour prior to services at the Adamsville U. Methodist Church, 8065 East Street, Adamsville, where a funeral service will be held at 11AM Wednesday with Pastor Mary Molnar and Pastor Tom Scott officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adamsville Community Foundation in memory of Dwain J. Merriam; envelopes will be available at the church.
