Duane O. Hood, 77, formerly of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Cape Coral, Florida. Mr. Hood had been a resident of St. James City, Florida for several years.
Born June 15, 1936 in Frazeysburg he was a son of the late Orville and Hilda (Kochensparger) Hood and was a 1954 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and an Army veteran. Duane retired in 1986 from Buckeye Pipeline/Ohio Oil Gatherings where he was a truck driver. He was a 50 year member of Frazeysburg Lodge #490, F. & A. M. He enjoyed Drag Racing and for many years he participated in the sport. He also enjoyed antique autos, car shows, hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife loving wife of 53 years, Lanita L. (Lawrence) Hood whom he married July 2, 1960; two daughters, Robin List of Newark, Ohio and Jill (Matt Wildman) Humphrey of Frazeysburg; five grandchildren, Marissa List, Austin (Brittany) Humphrey, Colin Humphrey, Breanna Humphrey and Shyenne Swartz; four great grandchildren, Caden, Lana, Easton and Lex; one brother, David (Yvonne) Hood of Frazeysburg; two sisters, Janet Wieber of Newark and Sharon (Clarence) Fracker of Frazeysburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Hood and two sisters, Marian Westbrook and Eunice Essig.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, January 24, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
