Doug passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born October 10, 1958 in Lynwood, CA to the late John and Bonnie Jean (Castor) Copen-Riffle. Doug served as pastor of Calvary Chapel Newark and was the former pastor of Calvary Chapel Zanesville. He was a Bible teacher; a musician and singer/songwriter, a counselor, caring friend and above all, he was a great husband and Dad! He loved to cook, listen to music, share the Gospel, spend time with family, friends and his dog, Maddie.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Copen; children, Mandy (Collier) Pierce, Amy (Dominique) Vos, all of Monument, CO, Doug (Gabrielle) Copen of Twinsburg, OH, Charity (Rick) Wisecarver of New Concord, OH, Karen Bailey of Englewood, OH, and Korie (Logan) Bednarczuk of Loveland, OH; five brothers; and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Copen.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME – NEWARK CHAPEL, 1850 W. Main St., Newark.
