Dorothy B. King, 81, of 310 Main Street, Dresden, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 18, 2004 at her home. Mrs. King was born December 17, 1922, a daughter of the late Wesley and Gertrude Bice. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends and caring for her flowers and lawn. She was extremely proud of her home and thoroughly enjoyed its daily upkeep and lived at the same location 62 years. She loved family gatherings and participating in holiday functions, especially having family and friends in her home for holiday gatherings. She was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church and in 1989, retired from K-Mart Corp. She is survived by her son, Larry L. (Shirley) King of Dresden, her daughter, Jacqueline D. Lane of Hartsville, SC, grandchildren, Michael E. (Monica) King, Brian D. (Lisa) King all of Dresden, Kendra (Dennis) Woods, Gordon (Laurie) Lane all of Hartsville, SC; great grandchildren, Michael King of Gahanna, Mitchell King of Dresden, Kyle Clapper of Frazeysburg, Keri Clapper of Dresden, Melissa King of Dresden, Matthew King of Dresden, Lacey Mogy, Brooke Mogy, Cody Woods, Chase Woods, all of Hartsville, SC; her special sisters in law, Gyneth Bice and Mildred Bice, a special friend, Betty Ross and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. King, in September 1987, and brothers, Edward, Calvin and Floyd Bice. Friends may call 2-4PM and 7-9PM Wednesday July 21, 2004 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday at the Dresden U.
