A funeral service for Dorothy M. Galbraith age 85 of Newark will be held Wednesday July 26, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John C. Minihan officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery.Mrs. Galbraith died Saturday July 23, 2005 at Arlington Nursing Home. She was born March 29, 1920 in Newark to the late Lester and Esther (McCann) Mears.She had been employed as a secretary for Holophane, Rankin & Rankin and Pure Oil. She was a 1938 graduate of Hanover High School, attended Muskingum College and was a graduate of Newark College of Commerce. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, The 99 Club and had served as a Sunday School teacher at Hanover Presbyterian Church.She and her husband traveled many times with Freedom Years. She also enjoyed gardening.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth & John Scranage of Newark; son, Robert Galbraith of Newark; granddaughter, Ashley Scranage of Newark; brother and sister-in-law, Warren Mears and Connie Baldwin of Granville; one niece and several nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dale L.
