Dorothy E. Ashcraft CrissSeptember 25, 1906 - December 28, 2002 FRAZEYSBURG ? Dorothy E. Ashcraft Criss, 96, of Country Court Nursing Home, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, died at 1:45pm Saturday, December 28, 2002. Born September 25, 1906 in Pike Township of Coshocton County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Rose (Porter) Ashcraft and was a graduate of Frazeysburg High School. She attended Muskingum College and later taught school, was a homemaker for 19 years and retired from the Eastern Star Home in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Criss was a member since childhood of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church near Fallsburg, Ohio and a member of the Church Missionary Society. She was a longtime resident of Country Court Nursing Home where she enjoyed taking part in numerous activities and making many new friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Criss; two brothers, Carl A. Ashcraft and Jesse H. Ashcraft; four sisters, Leona P. Ashcraft, Nellie M. Stockberger, Glenna J. McNaught and Esther I. Ashcraft; and two nephews. Surviving are one nephew, Robert A. Gault of Coshocton, Ohio; two nieces, Donna A. Scheff of Newark, Ohio, and Shirley Y. Ashcraft of Mt. Vernon; and several great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be from 1:00pm until 2:30pm Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 Third Street, Frazeysburg. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:30pm Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Frazeysburg Cemetery with Rev. Ray Sunkel, former pastor of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mt. Vernon.
