Doris Arnold Jones, 95, of Nashport, Ohio died Monday evening, December 8, 2014 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.
Born April 12, 1919 in Adams Township of Muskingum County she was a daughter of the late Howard and Anna (Hawk) Arnold and was a 1937 graduate of Adamsville High School.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a former employee of the old Dolder Drug Store in Frazeysburg. She was a member of the Nashport-Irville United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Faith Sunday School class and Friendship Circle at her church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving is her step-daughter, Joanna Pauline (Robert) Weiser of Zanesville; her sister in-law, Jean Arnold of Frazeysburg; a step-son in-law, Samuel Purtee of Frazeysburg; three grandchildren, Kaye (Danny) Spencer of Zanesville, Stephen (Jan) Gaswint of Nashport and Patrick (Lisa) Gaswint of Findlay, Ohio; seven great grandchildren, Dustin Spencer, Jacob (Alyssa) Gaswint, Jesse Gaswint, Jeremiah Gaswint, Jeni Gaswint, Levi Gaswint and Kiera Gaswint; one great great grandchild, Brooklyn Spencer; a niece, Leann Shokery and three nephews, Gail Arnold, Bill Leachman and Jay Leachman and their families.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jones whom she married July 17, 1948 and who died May 30, 1985; a brother William Arnold; a sister and brother in-law, Ruth and Lester Leachman and a step-daughter Linda Gaswint Purtee.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Irville Cemetery.
