A memorial service for Doreen Ann Loucks, 71, of Heath, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow immediately at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Loucks died unexpectedly at her Mustang, Okla. home May 5, 2008. She was born October 9, 1936 to the late Joseph and Dorothy (O?Neil) Parkinson. Mrs. Loucks early career included dental assistant to Doctor Shay and assistant to Optometrist Doctor Haynes both in Newark. She then started her military-related civilian career at Newark Air Force Base as a technician. Later she advanced to inspector for DCAS, a division of the Department of Defense. Numerous transfers included Deland, Florida where she met her late husband, Dee Donald Loucks, whom she married in 1978. She attended school at St. Francis de Sales. Her desire to help mankind led her to take some nursing classes at Daytona Beach College after retiring from her government job. She was a volunteer at Licking Memorial Hospital in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (David) Moyer of Mustang, OK.; granddaughter, Brittney (Justin) Gatz, of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Joseph Parkinson Jr. of Florida; brother, Robert Parkinson of Ohio and several cousins and her cherished Chihuahua, Chico. She is also survived by her children; Sheri Rose Burgess of Ohio, Linda Rose Vermillion of Ohio, Dee Donald Loucks of Alabama, Gary Loucks of South Carolina, Mark Loucks of South Carolina. Long time cherished friend Josephine Dishon was a prominent influence in Doreen?s life. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Rose; and granddaughter, Courtney Hatfield and first husband, William Eugene Rose. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday noon till time of services at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street. Memorial donations may be made to the Homeward Bound Humane Society, 548 Dog Leg Road, Heath, Ohio 43056 as Doreen so loved and cared for animals.
