A funeral service for Donald Vankirk will be 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home – Newark Chapel with Chaplain Brian Humphreys officiating.  The Licking County Veteran's Alliance will provide Military Funeral Honors.

Mr. Vankirk passed away May 31, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.  He was born September 30, 1939 in Darlington, PA to the late Richard and Eunice (Shasteen) Vankirk.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Vankirk retired from Rockwell International after 30 years working as an electrician.

Survivors include his wife, Maureen (Wells) Vankirk; children, Donald R Vankirk, Sheri (Ken) Monroe, Bernice (Michael) Bethards and Stacey (Chris) Hibbert; grandchildren, T.J. Daniels, Randy Flowers and Madeline Bethards; great-grandchildren, Christopher Flowers, Grant Flowers, and Mason Daniels; and a brother, Glenn Vankirk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Vankirk; and a sister, Marion Coon.

Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 1850 W. Main Street, Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
