Obituary
Donald Phillip Thomas, 65, of Dresden, Ohio went to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2014, having trusted Christ as his Savior many years ago.
Born November 19, 1948 in Zanesville, Ohio he was a son of the late Harold and Ada Ruth (Prince) Thomas. Donald grew up helping and hunting on the family farm in Coshocton County and he continued to do so throughout his life. Upon his graduation in 1966 from Dresden Jefferson High School, he attended Ohio University where he studied physics and graduated in 1971. From there, he taught math, physics and computers at Tri-Valley High School, retiring in 2001 with 30 years of service. In his retirement, Don enjoyed maintaining the farm and repairing computers. He was a member of the Zanesville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where he faithfully served as a trustee, IT manager and media technician.
Surviving is his wife of almost 38 years, Lynne (Hepner) Thomas, whom he married December 26, 1976. Together they raised two children, Peter (Amber) Thomas of Johnson City, Tennessee and Anna Thomas of Dresden. Also surviving is his brother, Roger (Darla) Thomas of Hebron, Ohio; his mother in-law, Lois Hepner of New Jersey; several brothers in-law and sisters in-law and several nieces and nephews in New Jersey and many Thomas and Prince cousins in the Dresden area.
By his death he has reunited with his parents, an infant brother, his father in-law, Henry Hepner and a son in-law, Stephen Hacker.
Calling hours will be 6pm to 8pm Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Calling hours will also be from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Zanesville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 545 Richey Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 5:00pm Saturday September 20, 2014 at the Zanesville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with Pastor Andy Winters officiating.
