A funeral service for Donald R. Redding, 85, of Heath, will be at 1PM Monday October 27, 2008 at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath with Dave Mason and Ray Linn officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Mr. Redding passed away Tuesday October 21, 2008 at his home. He was born June 29, 1923 in Columbus to Dennie E. Redding and Opal (Bogenrife) Redding Martin. An Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Redding was a Tech Sergeant in the infantry and served as an MP in the European Theatre. Following the war he had worked at the Defense Supply Depot in Columbus and for 31 years, worked at Kaiser Aluminum as a security guard and retired as fire safety officer. He was a member of the Kaiser Retirees Assoc., the American Legion, Newark Lodge #97 and was a Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Redding was a member of the Heath Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie M. (Courson) Redding, whom he married July 2, 1948; a daughter, Melanie (Ralph) Massie of Newark; three grandchildren, Kristi E. Massie of Toledo, Douglas Benjamin (Carol) Massie of Newark, Kevin (Kim) Massie of Blane, MN; one great-grandson, Evan T. Massie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Redding. Friends may call from 2-5PM Sunday October 26, 2008 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W.
