Obituary

A funeral service for Donald E. Montgomery, 80 of Hanover and Nashport area will be held Monday March 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 732 N. Main Street N.E. with Rev. Alexander McDougall officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.Mr. Montgomery died Friday March 18, 2005 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born November 13, 1924 in Newark, Ohio to the late Edwin W. and Blanche M. (Porter) Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery retired from the U. S. Army as a Sergeant Major. He served throughout the world including the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and The Pentagon. He also spent many years working on the family farm. He was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon, former member of the Hanover Grange and Farm Bureau. He and his sister, Mary Louise enjoyed traveling to many countries during their retirement.Survivors include his sister Mary Louise Montgomery of Nashport and four cousins; David Porter of Hebron, Rebecca Williams ? Smart of New York, Carrie Rienhart of Plain City and Jerry Cole of Dublin.Two sisters Jeanne Montgomery and Ruth Montgomery preceded him in death.Calling hours will be observed Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street Newark and one hour before services Monday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 732 N. Main Street N.E. Newark, Ohio 43055.
