FRAZEYSBURG ? Donald L. Hardesty, 84, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Friday evening, September 26, 2008 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. Born November 28, 1923 in Loudenville, Ohio he was the son of the late Gilbert L. Hardesty and Mary Hazlett Hardesty Harris and was a Navy veteran. Mr. Hardesty retired after 21 years of service with Brendel Oil & Gas. Previously, he had worked in law enforcement with the Muskingum County Sheriff?s department for 13 years. He was Methodist by faith and was a member of Frazeysburg Lodge 490, F. & A. M., the Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, Eagles Lodge 2223 of North Canton and the DAV. Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Verna) Hardesty of Hopewell, Ohio and John Mitchell (Karen) Hardesty of Bladensburg, Ohio; a step-daughter, Sherry (John) Hammond of Frazeysburg; a step-son, Robert Clark of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Carl (Norma) Hardesty of Loudenville; three half-brothers, Eugene (Delores) Harris of Mansfield, Ohio George ?Bud? (Martha) Hardesty of Zanesville and Russell (Marsha) Hardesty of Bainbridge, Georgia; a half-sister, Cheryl (Raymond) Back of Frazeysburg; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. (Squires) Hardesty, whom he married January 9, 1974 and who died March 20, 2002; a daughter, Linda McCune; his step-mother, Viola Hardesty; a half-brother, Doyle Harris; a granddaughter, Ashli Parmer and a great great grandson, Cory Parmer. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Frazeysburg Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 8:15pm Thursday. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, October 3, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
