Obituary

Donald D. Casey, 69, of 9320 Vickers Hill Drive, Frazeysburg, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2004 at his home. Born April 27, 1935 in Shreve, Ohio, he was the son of the late Albert D. and Gladys (Fahler) Casey and was a 1953 graduate of Shreve High School and he served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Casey received his BS degree in agriculture in 1957 from The Ohio State University and his Masters degree in Psychology in 1961. He retired in 1991 from the Newark City Schools as a school psychologist. He had also taught agriculture in Dublin and Waldo, Ohio and science at Licking Valley High School. He was a guidance councilor at Southwestern City Schools in Grove City and Zanesville City Schools. Mr. Casey also worked at the Mental Health Center of Zanesville. As an active farmer until his death, he operated Highland Meadows Farm, an Angus cow/calf operation in Frazeysburg. He was a member of the Muskingum County Cattleman?s Association, Muskingum County Soil Conservation Association and was a former member of the Guernsey-Noble County Cattleman?s Association. In addition to his farming affiliations, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark and was a supporter of the opera. Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann (Ardrey) Casey, whom he married May 25, 1958; two daughters, Cindy Lee (John) Evans of St. Louisville, Ohio and Elizabeth Marie Fox of Philo, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Evans Royer of St. Louisville and Renee Lynn Fox of Philo; one great grandson, Ethan Royer of St. Louisville; and two sisters, Ellen Casey Schag of Mansfield, Ohio and Carol Casey Morris of Toledo, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Micinda Evans and Melissa Evans and a brother, Elden Decker Casey. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 Third Street, Frazeysburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be 2:30pm Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the funeral home with Pastor Craig Jones officiating.
