Dolores F. Rogers, 88, of Zanesville, Ohio died Thursday morning, June 28, 2012 at the Muskingum County Home in Zanesville.
Born June 19, 1924 in Zanesville she was a daughter of the late Louis I. and Marguerite (Weigand) Mattingly and was a 1942 graduate of St. Nicholas High School. She also attended St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana for two years and was a graduate of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Mrs. Rogers retired in 1986 from Good Samaritan Hospital where she had been a registered nurse for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at the Mattingly Settlement; the Lady of Mt. Carmel; the Benedictine Oblates of St. Mienrod , Indiana and the Good Samaritan Nurses Alumni Association.
Surviving is one son, Daniel J. Rogers of Tucson, Arizona; one daughter, Catherine Rogers of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Jared Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, Jaime Heissler and Lauren Heissler; two sisters, Rose Marie Nido of Brecksville, Ohio and Mary Lou (Ted) Smeltzer of Nashport, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jesse L. Rogers, Jr. whom she married January 25, 1951 and who died February 13, 2001; a son, J. Leonard Rogers, III, a sister, Betty Kessler and two brothers in-law, Leo Kessler and Frank Nido.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8pm Sunday, July 1, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at the Mattingly Settlement, St. Mary's Road, Nashport, Ohio. Christian Wake services will be at 5:15pm Sunday at the church and Rosary will be recited at 8:15pm Sunday at the church.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at the Mattingly Settlement with the Rev. Father Jack Maynard as the celebrant. Burial will be in Mattingly Settlement Cemetery.
