Obituary

Derrick Keith Dorsey, 51, of Heath, Ohio died Sunday morning June 11, 2017 at his home. His loving family was at his side.

Derrick was born September 28, 1965 in Newark. As a child he lived between Hanover and Perryton. He moved to Heath and was a 1984 graduate of Heath High School. At Heath High School he excelled in both academics and sports. He was a member of the Honor Society and was selected as All-State in Track and Cross-country. He was a very avid runner and continued his running throughout his adult life. In 1989 he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in business administration. He was a computer consultant, contracted with Columbia Gas. Derrick was a member of the Harrisburg United Methodist Church and a life member of the OSU Alumni Association. His greatest joy was his family and he was very active in all of his children's activities.

Surviving are his parents, Barbara and Roy Hammer of Heath; his beloved soul mate, Tricia Honaker; a daughter and son, Olivia Dorsey and Noah Dorsey, both of Dublin; his brothers, David (Rhonda) Dorsey of Nashport, Rod (Chris Hammer) and Russ (Kim) Hammer, both of Newark and Gregg Hammer of Mt. Vernon; his sisters, Denise (Ron) Parsons of Beavercreek, Ohio and Jessica (Shawn) Sullivan of Newark; four nieces, five nephews; a great nephew, Levi and his cousins, Rick Wheeler and Glen and Ouida Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glen and Ora Dell Wheeler, a nephew, Christopher Parsons and a great niece, McKenzie Wefler.

Calling hours will be 4pm to 8pm Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Edwin L. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Perryton Cemetery.

Derrick's family wants to give a very special thank you to all family and friends for their help, prayers, cards and support and to Hospice of Central Ohio for their great care and support throughout.
