Delbert "Dean" Bales, 84, of Dresden, Ohio died Saturday evening, March 10, 2018 at Coshocton Memorial Hospital in Coshocton, Ohio.
Born February 7, 1934 in Norwich, Ohio he was a son of the late Vibert and Marie (Darner) Bales Nelson and was a 1951 graduate of New Concord High School. Dean was employed by Conn's Potato Chips for many years and was retired from the Logistics Department of the Longaberger Company. Later he worked for Scurlock Excavating Company. He was a former member of both the Eagles and the Elks Club. Dean enjoyed going to yard sales, watching the Ohio State Buckeye's, the Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR. For several years he helped organize the Annual Tri-Valley Sports Stag Dinner. Dean was known to be "good humored" and he enjoyed being out in the community and around people.
Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia "Patty" (Graves) Bales whom he married October 30, 1954; two daughters, Connie Haught and Vicki (Pat) Gay, both of Zanesville and one granddaughter, Amy Marie Haught. Also surviving is one step-brother, Bill Nelson of Cambridge, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobbie Bales and two sisters, Alice Beem and Norma Jean Murrey.
Calling hours will be 5pm to 8pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the funeral home with Father Donald Franks officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
