David Gene Ankrum, 61, of Hopewell, surrounded by his loving family went home to be with the Lord at 8:12PM Monday January 26, 2004 at his home after courageously fighting cancer. David was a wonderful, father, grandfather and husband. He was born Oct. 27, 1942 in Glenford, Ohio, to the late Denzil Eldon Ankrum and Gladys Mae Wilson. David attended Hopewell High School and still remains in contact with old school friends. He was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville. David spent many years driving truck. He worked for Porter Brothers, in the oil fields; McGraw Edison, Burnham Corporation and most recently with Putnam, T & M Trucking. David was a proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Hernando Beach, Florida. He loved woodworking, fishing, boating and the Gulf of Mexico. David spent many hours on the water when he lived in WeekiWachee, Florida. He is survived by his wife Deborah Mae Graves Ankrum, whom he married Dec. 6, 1985; three daughters; Krista Ankrum (Michael) Hawley of Zanesville; Lisa Ankrum and fianc?e Brett Stocker of Pickerington, Monica Ankrum of the home; one stepson Phillip Mock of Zanesville and two step-daughters Brandy (Jon) Griffin and Brenda (Adrian) Harris both of Zanesville; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patsy Colleen McLaughlin. Calling hours will be 4-8PM Thursday January 29, 2004 at the Vensil-Orr and Chute Funeral Home in Frazeysburg. Services will be held at 11a.m. Friday at North Terrace Church of Christ, Zanesville, with Bill Meaige officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville.
