NEWARK ? A memorial service for Darwin D. Shannon, 81 of Newark, will be held at 10:00AM Saturday April 9, 2005 at the Marne United Methodist Church with Pastor Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Mr. Shannon died Monday morning at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born June 12, 1923 in Madison Township to the late Ray and Bessie (Ridenour) Shannon. He attended Newark High School prior to serving his country in the U.S. Army during the second World War. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for over 30 years and was a member of the Kaiser retirees group. He was a member, and past master of New Home Lodge, # 338 F & AM in Hanover; a member and past patron of the Hanover OES #220; and a member of the Marne United Methodist Church, where he served on the building committee. Dar?s favorite pastimes included traveling, camping and welcoming friends and family to fish and swim in his pond. Many were touched by his strong faith and love of helping others. Surviving is his wife Lois (Stough) Shannon, who he married July 3, 1947, and with whom he shared many special memories in their 57 years of marriage; one son, Dave Shannon of Ohio Pyle, Penn.; one daughter Pam (Dean) Frazier of Toboso; a grandson, Brian Steen of Toboso; a sister, Irma (Bill) Huffman of Utica; and his good and faithful pet Mikey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Ralph Shannon; and two sisters, Shirley Crawford and Ardella Berry. Friends may call from 6-8PM Friday April 8, 2005 and one hour prior to the service at the Marne United Methodist Church, 1019 Licking Valley Rd., NE, Newark. Masonic and Eastern Star services will begin at 5:30PM Friday. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Marne United Methodist Church. The Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 W.
