A memorial service for Darl E. â??Buddyâ? Billingsley, 68, of Newark will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Forks Cemetery.
Mr. Billingsley died Thursday, May, 6 2010 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born August 21, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Billingsley retired from the research and development department of Holophane. He was a vetreran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Jackson Lodge # 85F & AM and the NRA. Darl loved helping family and friends and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved deep conversations and reading, especially mentally challenging topics. He was a quintessential handyman, enjoyed the outdoors and listened to all types of music.
He is survived by his mother, Darlene â??Dollyâ? (Feist) Scheiber of Newark; his wife of 42 years Claudia A. (Norman) Billingsley, whom he married September 23, 1967; brothers and sisters in law, Dale and Helen Norman of Savannah, Georgia, Carol and Jack Foltz of Newark, nieces, Stephanie Harrell of Hilliard, Teresa (Craig) Foreman of Hilliard; nephew, Craig (Marcela) Norman of Longmont, CO; step nieces, Cindy Parsons and Debra Overmore both of Florida; one great niece and five great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Jean and Charles Bricker.
Calling hours will be observed Monday, May 10, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street. Masonic services will be held at 8p.m.
