A funeral service for Dale W. Retterer, 77 of Heath will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 3, 2007 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Homes with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Beverly Cemetery, Beverly, Ohio. Mr. Retterer died Wednesday October 31, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 14, 1930 in West Mansfield, Ohio to the late George B. and Ruth A. (Fout) Retterer. Mr. Retterer retired in 1994 from the First National Bank in McConnelsville as the President and CEO. He had 41 years of banking experience, working also in Cambridge, Richwood and Beverly. He and his wife were the former owners of the Sunset Inn in McConnelsville. Dale was very civic-minded. He was a member of the Community Bankers Association of Ohio and the Ohio Bankers League. He was a member of the Morgan Co. Chamber of Commerce, Morgan Co. Tourism Committee, Morgan Co. Community Improvement Corporation, Masonic Lodge, Northern Mason Jurisdiction, Columbus Aladdin Shrine, Beverly and McConnelsville American Legion Post. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville and served on the Finance Committee and Administrative Council. He also volunteered for the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjory L. ?Marge? (Wood) Retterer, whom he married May 10, 1954; son, Kent (Vicky) Retterer of Columbus; daughters, Lee Ann (Dave) Price of Beverly, Amy Lee (Bruce) Layman of Mt. Vernon, Abby Jo Retterer of Columbus; sisters, Georgeann Charles of Richwood, Marjorie Skidmore of Richwood, Janet (Gerry) Mosher of Essex; brothers, Dean (Sandi) Retterer of Springfield, Richard (Melanie) Retterer of Hilliard; brother-in-law, Carl (Kay) Wood of Lambertville, MI.; sister-in-law, Jodene (Phil) Southward of Marion; grandchildren, Dustin Price, Kiley (Roger) Russell, Madison Layman; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be observed from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday November 2, 2007 at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.
