Dale Marion Johnson, 72, of Frazeysburg, Ohio passed away early Wednesday morning, September 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 1, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio he was a son of the late Marion and Mary (Logston) Johnson and was a 1961 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. In 1966 he graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in agriculture. After college Dale enlisted in the United States Navy and was appointed to Aircrew Survival Equipment Second Class. He served on the U. S. S. Lexington and was honorably discharged in 1975. For thirty years he worked for Midland Co-op and Country Mark Co-op as an agronomist in the surrounding communities.
Dale was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church and a former member of the Frazeysburg Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, Ohio State football and basketball and spending time at Apple Valley Lake, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Riley and great niece Marisa McFarland.
Surviving is he loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Ruth L. (Rickeart) Johnson whom he married June 2, 1968; two sons, Jamie (Renee Worthington) Johnson of Frazeysburg and Jeremy Hoshor-Johnson (Scott) of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Vernon (Judy) Johnson of Thornville, Ohio; a grandson, Riley Johnson; a special niece, Marisa McFarland and a step-grandson, Cory C. Hoshor. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; a sister in-law, Raejean (Ron) Riley; two brothers in-law, Rob (Shannon) Rickeart and Rick (Jo) Rickeart and his special friends, Erma Riley and Charles and Darlene Lentz.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Wilson and a brother in-law, Randy Rickeart.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor John Keeny officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
