Funeral services for Dale L. Galbraith, 80 of Newark will be held Wednesday July 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. John C. Minihan officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery. Mr. Galbraith died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Arlington Nursing Home. He was born May 18, 1925 in Newark, Ohio to the late Darwin and Bernice (Hoyt) Galbraith. He retired in 1979 as a mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service with 28 years service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. He was a charter member of the Madison Twp. Fire Department, a 1943 graduate of Newark High School, a member of U.C.T. and enjoyed traveling with the Freedom Years group. He served as a Tech. Sgt. in the U. S. Army from 1945 to 1947 in the Philippines and Korea. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Mears) Galbraith, whom he married on March 20, 1948; daughter and son-in-law, Beth & John Scranage of Newark; son, Robert Galbraith of Newark; sister, Eileen (Fred) Johnson of Newark; granddaughter, Ashley Scranage of Newark; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday July 12, 2005 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 1850 West Main Street.
