FRAZEYSBURG ? Daisy E. Varner, 87, of Nashport, Ohio died Friday morning, February 27, 2009 at Arlington Nursing Home in Newark, Ohio. Born July 4, 1921 near White Cottage, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Ollie (Van Allen) Powell and was a homemaker. Mrs. Varner was a proud veteran as she served her country in the United States Army WAC?s during World War II. She was a member of the Nashport United Methodist Church and was an avid animal lover. Surviving is one sister, Reba Swinehart of Glenford, Ohio, her brother in-laws and sister in-laws, Charles and Anne Rogers and Roy and Joan Varner, all of Toboso, her very good friends, Gene Minnick and Terry Ferguson of Nashport; several nieces and nephews and many other friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald G. Varner, who died December 22, 1996; three brothers, Robert, Frederick and James Powell; and four sisters, Estella Seyerle, Agnes Swinehart, Bonnie Biller and Betty Kasson. Calling hours will be from Noon to 1pm Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:15pm Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Frazeysburg Cemetery with Pastor Beth Bateson officiating.
