A funeral service for Curtis Klingler, 86 of Newark will be held Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. John Harra and Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mr. Klingler died Sunday October 18, 2009 at his residence. He was born June 7, 1923 in Junction City, Ohio to the late P.M. and Mae B. (Clements) Klingler. Mr. Klingler retired in 1982 with 30 years service with Rockwell International. He was a member of Local 1037 UAW and served as the union insurance representative. He had been a member of Neal Avenue United Methodist church for over 50 years and had served in many administrative positions, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Young at Heart group. He had served as the scoutmaster for Troop 22 B.S.A. He was a charter member and the second President of the Licking County Rock and Mineral Society. He had enjoyed farming throughout his life. He was a member of the FFA and had received the Ohio Future Farmer of America and American Future Farmer of America Awards.He was a graduate of Somerset High School. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Imogene M. (Custer) Klingler, whom he married December 4, 1949; daughter Wilma Jean (Ray) Hodges of Cincinnati; son, Vaughn L. (Marilyn) Klingler of Newark; grandchildren, Carl (Mandy) Hodges, Chris (Brandy) Hodges, Kelly Klingler, Kyle Klingler; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Mattie, Nathan; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Lowell Klingler in 1974. Calling hours will be observed Tuesday October 20, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 1850 West Main Street.
