Curtis E. Daugherty, 82, of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday evening, February 26, 2017 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born December 29, 1934 in Coshocton, Ohio he was a son of the late Thomas and Frances (Sheeley) Daugherty and was a 1952 graduate of Coshocton High School. He was an Army veteran serving from 1956 to 1959. Curtis also served with the Ohio National Guard for three years. He worked at Shaw Barton, St. Regis Paper Mill and retired form Cyclops-Armco with 38 years of service. He was a former member of the Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Department and Squad and was past president of the Muskingum County Firefighters Association. He was a reserve Deputy Sheriff in both Muskingum County and Licking County. Curtis was also a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Archaeological Society of Ohio, the Archaeological Institute of America, DAV and AARP.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (Woodie) Daugherty whom he married June 3, 1961 and who died August 23, 2012. He and Ruby had 51 happy and loving years together. They were long-time members of Dawes Arboretum and it was their favorite place of peace and enjoyment. They also enjoyed hunting artifacts, hunting and fishing together.
Surviving is one brother, Stanley Daugherty of West Lafayette, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, March 3, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor David McCann officiating.
