Clyde J. "Andy" Anderson, 94 of Newark passed away Tuesday August 1, 2023 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.
He was born January 12, 1929 in Newark to Clyde and Grace (Priest) Anderson.
Clyde was a graduate of Newark High School. He served during WWII with the Army Corps of Engineers. He is currently a member of Aerospace Lodge # 800 F&AM with 64 years of service in the Masonic Lodges. He coached Little League Baseball and was active in Heath High School Athletic Boosters Club while his children participated. He was known as "Old Bulldog" on CB radios. He was an avid NASCAR and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He retired from Rockwell International after thirty plus years. He started employment as a line worker and progressing as a foreman, supervisor, manager and engineer. Following retirement, He and Dee spent 21 years in Florida returning to Newark in 2005.He was active at the Christ Community United Methodist Church of Harbor Heights playing guitar in the church ensemble and a member of the "Kitchen Band" which performed at nursing homes and numerous civic organizations.
Clyde's activities included trapshooting, bowling, motorcycling and rabbit hunting with his beagles. His favorite pastimes included being close to the water. He enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and boating often taking part in competitions.
He is survived by his children, Kathryn (Steven) Spain, Karl Anderson all of Newark; granddaughters, Lindsey (Emanuel) Rios, Kelsea Anderson all of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Kay) Spence of Frazeysburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Delores M. (Spence) Anderson; sister, Marjorie and Ralph Wright; beloved pet, Benji.
A visitation will be observed Friday, August 4, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home 1850 West Main Street. Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military honors at 5:00 p.m. and Aerospace Lodge 800 F&AM will provide masonic services at 7:00 p.m. Both services are open to public attendance.
