FRAZEYSBURG ? Clinton L. Wheeler, 86, of Nashport, Ohio died at 9:18pm Sunday, March 11, 2007 at The Ohio State University Hospitals, Columbus, Ohio. Born May 16, 1920 in Salt Creek Township of Muskingum County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard E. and Blanche A. (Smythe) Wheeler and was an Army veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Wheeler retired in 1976 after 13 years of service with B. & L. Motor Freight of Newark, Ohio and he had been a Teamster for over 35 years. He was a well-known area square dance caller and had been calling dances since 1955. He was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church of Zanesville, Ohio, past president of Southeast Ohio Retired Teamsters, the Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Fame, Dresden Lodge #103, F. & A. M., American Legion Post #246 of Duncan Falls, Ohio and Wakatomika Post #6193, V. F. W. of Frazeysburg, Ohio and the American Square Dance Callers Association. Surviving is his wife, Violet I. (Mautz) Wheeler, whom he married June 30, 1940; one daughter, Mary Ann Fleming of Zanesville; four sons, Willard L. (Sharon) Wheeler, Carmen K. (Carol) Wheeler and Marvin L. (Brenda) Wheeler, all of Nashport and Larry C. (Sylvia) Wheeler of Homestead, Florida; eight grandchildren, Janie (Harry) Wheeler-Young, Donald (Jessie) Wheeler, Travis (Ryan) Wheeler, Tony (Brenda) Fleming, Eddie (Mindy) Fleming, Peggy (Justin) Goins, Matthew Wheeler and Megan Wheeler; fifteen great grandchildren, Madison and Eli Wheeler-Young, Dylan Wheeler, Nicole, Jerry and Joey Fleming, Jordan and Jade Foreman, Cortland, Hunter, Storm, Brooke and Breanne Wilkins and Heather Rickeart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, Clyde and George Wheeler and a son in-law, James Fleming. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 6:30 to 9pm Wednesday, March 14, 2006 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street, with Masonic services being conducted at 6:00pm by Dresden Lodge #103, F. & A. M. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service, which will be 11:00am Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Central Trinity United Methodist Church, 62 South Seventh Street, Zanesville, with Pastor Skip Colvin officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Wakatomia Post #6193, V. F. W. conducting military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Home Activities Fund, 1400 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
