Clifford Carl Gierke, 92, of Adamsville, died at his home, Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2026.
Born October 3, 1933, in Brady Lake, Ohio he was a son of the late Elmer and Dorothy (Dick) Gierke and a 1950 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School. Clifford earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and was a medic in the United States Navy. He drove bus and taught at Tri-Valley High School for 30+ years. Clifford was also an FFA Advisor, lifetime farmer and a member of the ASHAO Saddle Breeding Industry. At the age of seventeen, he rode his motorcycle from Brady Lake, Ohio to California and back. He will be missed at his weekly “Round Table” dinner meetings at Tee Jays Restaurant in Zanesville and by his dog, Heidi, who went everywhere with him the past three years.
Surviving is a son, Collin (Beth) Gierke of Springfield; a daughter, Carla "Candy" Gierke of Adamsville; a grandson, Josh Gierke of Springfield; a great grandson, Ronan Gierke; a brother, Dick Gierke of Ravenna, Ohio a sister-in-law, Patti (Arthur) Keller of Flordia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Janet Marie Kazimer Gierke, who died on December 11, 2022.
No services will be held at this time; a memorial service will be held at the family farm at a later date.
