Clarence L. â??Stubbyâ? Love, 80, of Heath, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday morning January 28, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Love was born April 26, 1929 in Thornville, a son of the late Clark D. and Bertha Marie (Piper) Love. He was class president of the 1946 graduating class of Kirkersville High School and proudly served his country in the US Army. Mr. Love spent forty years working at Owens-Corning Fiberglas and following his retirement there, worked ten years as superintendent at Mid-Ohio Warehouse. He was always community minded and had coached womenâ??s softball, served as chief of the Indian Guides at the YMCA, served on the Heath Village Council at the time of the transition from village to city government and sat on the first City Council, serving on several committees including the development of Hoback Park. He had purchased the first ticket sold by the Heath Athletic Boosters, had served as its president and was involved in the development of the Heath High School football field and lighting. For many years he served as president of Fiberglas Federal Credit Union. Mr. Love was a member of the Heath Church of Christ where he had served as deacon, elder and chairman for many years and for 27 years served as Sunday School superintendent. He felt blessed to be able to participate in the planning and fund raising for the new church building and along with Bill Leonard served as project manager during construction.
Surviving are his wife, Betty M. (Rice) Love, whom he married June 20, 1953; his children, 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, Connie M. (Wayne) Leading of Groveport and their children and grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis) Collins and Austin, Gage and Madelynn Clare (soon to be), Ricky Leading, David (Courtney) Leading; Gary L. (Anne) Love of Granville and their children, Gregory Love, Kristen Love, Chad Love; Dennis D. (Carol) Love of New Lexington and their children, Brian Love , Catie Love; Sandra M. (Joe) Bowman of Hebron and their children and grandchildren, Angela (Eric) Mason and Averi, Carter and Cooper, Ryan Kelley, Joe Bowman, Meagan Kelley, Jac Bowman, Quincy Bowman; a brother Kenneth E. (Anne) Love of Bay Village and a niece and several nephews and a sister-in-law, Shirley Love of Hebron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Charles F. Love.
Friends may call 6-8pm Saturday January 30 and 2-6PM Sunday January 31 at the Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held Monday February 1, 2010 at 11am with Greg Robbins, Dave Mason and Ray Linn officiating at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
