Obituary

Clare Belle Martin, 78, of Dresden, died Wednesday afternoon December 19, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Martin was born April 13, 1929 near Frazeysburg, a daughter of the late Ralph and Susan (McGinnis) Robison. She was a 1947 graduate of Frazeysburg High School and had worked in the Clerk of Courts office under Kenny Swope. In 1951 she married and moved to Dresden and was always active in her community. She was past Worthy Matron and district deputy of O.E.S. Chapter #260 in Dresden, member of the B.P.W., the Kismet Club and the Tri-Valley Athletic Boosters. An active member of the Dresden United Methodist Church, she had served on many church committees and boards and had chaired the UMW and had taught Sunday School for many Dresden children over the years. Devoted to her family, she and her husband raised their children on the family farm where she was bookkeeper for the farm and the Martin Dairy. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Wayne Martin, whom she married December 16, 1951; children, Rebecca (Rick) Priest of Frazeysburg, Dr. Kenneth (Mary) Martin II, of Dresden, Maribeth (Ron) Shirer of Adamsville, Donald (Judy) Martin, James (Nancy) Martin and Julie Barnhard all of Dresden; grandchildren, Richard (Wendy) Priest, Renee (Cal) Shrimplin, Brian Martin, Lori Martin, Adam Martin, Jeremy Martin, Lance (Nicole) Shirer, Kyle (Courtney) Shirer, Jon (Stephani) Shirer, Chad (Michelle) Shirer, Eli Martin, Matt Martin, Jared Martin, Kara Martin, Dominic Barnhard, Clare Barnhard; great grandchildren, Beau Priest, Devyn Ianniello, Cal Shrimplin, II, Cayla Shrimplin, Allen Shirer, Kelsey Shirer, Siena Shirer, Madeline Shirer; brothers, John (Janie) Robison of Newark, Charles (Lila Lee) Robison of Frazeysburg; many nieces and nephews and sisters in law and brothers in law. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Martin, son in law Dan Barnhard, sisters, Ethel Newcome, Betty Corder, Jean Waggoner, Blanche Robison; and two brothers, Ralph Robison and Herb Robison. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Saturday December 22, 2007 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:30PM Sunday at the Dresden U. Methodist Church with Pastor Ricci Arthur officiating; burial will follow in the Frazeysburg Cemetery.
